Thursdays July 1
Chiku Awali African Dancers & Drummers
Chiku Awali brings dance and culture to a variety of audiences. Founded in 2003, Chiku Awali has become one of the major performing groups for African dance in the New York Lower Hudson Valley region.
AND
A multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer from Niger and Mali. A master of Saharan music he sings and plays kurbu, gurmi, godje, calabash drum and a number of other Central Saharan instruments. He was the founder, musical director, composer and lead guitarist for the wonderful Niger roots band, Mamar Kassey that toured internationally to rave reviews.
Wednesday July 7
Performs an eclectic repertoire of original Jazz, Funk, Rock, Blues, Classical and World music with the unique instrumentation of flutes and global wind instruments. The group's influences range from Bach, The Beatles, Coltrane, Miles Davis to Bela Fleck, The Kronos String Quartet, and Yo Yo Ma.
Thursdays July 8
A jazz trumpeter, arranger and composer, toured with jazz legends, including: Lionel Hampton. Fred's musical approach is to sound good, be different and creative, and show a spirit that stirs something in people. This performace will include the latin flavor.
Wednesday July 14
Mark Morganelli & Jazz Forum Brazil Project
Performance will feature jazz interpretations of Brazilian bossa novas, sambas and more by composers Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Joao Gilberto and others.

The group performs vibrant, vocal and instrumental material that fuses the styles of Brazilian/Latin with pop and jazz.

Offering dynamic interaction, and a rare feeling of oneness. You will hear some of the most innovative and exciting sounds on the modern music scene. They play with a rhythmic edge, which takes listeners along on the journey.

A female jazz vocal trio that sings with style and sass, from Andrews Sisters favorites to Brazilian and pop music.

A Japan-native, TAEKO tempers her Eastern heritage with sophisticated scatting a la Ella Fitzgerald and the soulfulness of Anita Baker.

The Jazz Pioneers present a unique and enjoyable combination of swing and Big Band favorites together with the best of modern jazz.

Nobody bridges the gap between generations or musical genres like SWEET PLANTAIN, a refreshingly new string quartet. Artfully fusing the western classical traditions in which they were trained with the hip-hop, jazz improv, and Latin rhythms on which they were raised, their original writing and live shows educate and entertain. Separately hailing from the South Bronx, New Jersey and Venezuela, together these musicians give voice to a sound that is contemporary, multicultural and very New York.

A brass, reeds & rhythm ensemble that performs Mr. Farber's arrangements and original compositions. As well as Jazz, Swing and American Popular Standards. Drawing from the best elements of the Swing Era, to the “Rat Pack” stylings of Frank, Dino, and Sammy.

An ensemble which stays loyal to the jazz tradition, embracing the spirit of the jazz masters but simultaneously searching for new ways to interpret the music by borrowing the influences of its ethnically diverse members.

The David Heckendorn Jazz Orchestra
Performs original, sophisticated, and entertaining swing music together with vocal renditions of the great American standards. Dynamic and engaging jazz solo improvisations by masterful musicians are featured throughout.

An all ladies funk, jazz, R&B, blues, contemporary and gospel ensemble. The group was honored to perform at one of the major Inaugural Ball's honoring President Obama.

This incredible jazz trumpeter will be accompanied by the sultry sounds of captivating vocalist Traci Tota. Together the two artists will fuse to bring you an inspiring, innovative evening of Smooth Jazz with an added spice of your favorite R&B and Funk classics.

Sam "Magic Man" Waymon and the Magic Band
Working with his sister Nina Simone for over ten years, Sam developed his own style that combined everything from gospel to jazz. Currently the group performs the best of original American music, namely rhythm&blues, blues and jazz. Through Sam's own repertoire of over 400 songs as well as covers of some classic tunes, the band can rock and soul any audience. The band is capable of doing songs in any style from bossa to blues and does not hesitate to take any song and brand it with its own distinct stylings and sounds.
Thursdays August 26
Grammy Winning producer pays homage to his friend and mentor Miles Davis with great melodies, improvisation and infectious Grooves. The music is an electrified blend of Jazz, Funk and World Grooves.
