Special Exhibits

Featured artists at this year’s Newburgh Jazz Series are Richard Outlaw, whose paintings capture both the pain and the glory of our past, and Ramona Torres with her award winning photographs of Newburgh Bay. Their work will be on display at the concert site.

Ramona Torres
Currently residing in Newburgh, New York, Ramona Torres (a.k.a. Rae) is a first generation Latina, raised and educated in New York City. As a young adult she joined the military where she received her formal photography training, developed and fine tuned her skills. While in the military, her official assignment as Post Photographer literally took her to new heights as she photographed while hanging from helicopters. Rae works with both film and digital mediums and has recently created some exciting new forms of photo-artwork and abstracts through computer manipulation of her images. She specializes in capturing Mother Nature at her best.

Richard Outlaw
Richard Outlaw touches the viewer's emotions with paintings and sculpture depicting historic events that speak profoundly of the oppression, struggle and politics, as well as the richness and courage of African Americans. The subject matter in his work includes historical moments, the impact of jazz, family life, landscapes, African fabric design, and pieces of introspective and autobiographical expression.
